Amenemope was a great Egyptian prophet. He influenced the concept of El Shaddai, a complex concept of God inspired by El Elyon. He greatly influenced the religious faith of the Hebrews and the philosophy of the Greeks. He was known as "son of man".
He exalted the conscience into the supreme arbiter between good and evil, taught that sins would be punished, and proclaimed that salvation was obtained through recourse to the solar deity. Mesopotamian religion entered Hebrew literature through the work of Amenemope.
