The chazan or chazan was an officer of the synagogue who was in charge of teaching the children. The Urantia Book repeatedly tells us about the chazan of Nazareth that Jesus knew, but without giving us his name. [1] This chazan is whom Jesus drew in charcoal, an action that caused the young Jesus a serious problem. [2] He was always interested inJesus’ progress. [3] He advised Jesus on the strategy to follow in rejection of the nationalist Zealots. [4] Inaugurated a young men’s club. [5] He was already deceased at the time of Jesus’ rejection at Nazareth. [6] Susana, the head of the twelve women evangelists, was the daughter of this chazan. [7]
